Great Hair but Less Than Zero Credibility by Roger from The HairStyler

I was recently reminded of one of my favorite celebrities from the 1980s. The fact that I was "reminded" of her proves that she’s a has-been now: a nobody with less than zero credibility. Sad isn’t it. And that made me interested in two things: 1. The fact that fame is something that can come and go as quickly as a puff of smoke, and 2. What does my favorite celebrity from the 80s look like now?

You might remember Jami Gertz from 1980s smash hit movies like The Lost Boys and Less Than Zero. Most recently she starred in Keeping Up with the Steins, but that kind of slipped under the radar. But Jami’s presence in Less than Zero certainly didn’t go unnoticed for me and millions of others. She was the mysterious, confused and sexy keystone in a love triangle with Robert Downey Jr. and Andrew McCarthy.

After Less Than Zero Jami shot to fame with a speed paralleled by her friends’ drug-induced downfall in the movie. She was the "it girl" and she’s got the famous 80s ex-boyfriends to prove it- Corey Feldman, Kiefer Sutherland and even Chuck Norris. But now the fame’s all gone. As is the case with so many other celebrities, once the spotlight’s gone she disappeared from our consciousness without so much as a whiff (proving also that celebs only have the most superficial impact in the first place).

After a bit of searching I resurrected Jami. And you know what? Despite her lack of "cred" in the celebrity scene, she looks great. Check out her lovely layered waves and marvel at how well this cut suits her thick hair. And you’ve got to also acknowledge how flattering her hairstyle is for her face shape, particularly the way the layers through the bottom half complement her slightly narrow jaw. My only tiny criticism is her regrowth... but heck, everything else looks fab.

Anyhow, Jami looks great- as good today as she did in 1987 when I first met her. So she’s not as famous anymore, and maybe the aura about her is gone. But that’s what happens in Hollywood. Apparently there’s a sequel to Less than Zero in the pipeline... perhaps we’ll see Jami on the silver screen again sometime soon.

Cameron Diaz: Blonde or Brown?

CLICK HERE to view your photo or a model with thousands of hairstyles and color combinations that suit your face, including short, bridal, men's, celebrity and everyday hairstyles.

Cameron Diaz is known to often change her hair coloring from blonde to brown and back again. So what, you may be thinking. Well, here at TheHairStyler.com we've been running a hair color special over the holiday period, tackling issues like "Hair Coloring Fears" and keeping you up to speed on how to keep your hair color fresh. We thought that a nice way to complement our special and to breathe some life into the hair color ideas we've been discussing (for example, choosing the right hair color for your skin tone and complexion) would be to look at a real life example. Cameron's our real life example. So, have a read of our hair coloring articles and apply your knowledge to the photos below and tell us this: which hair color do you think suits Cameron better, blonde or brown?

This is what we think (let us know in the comments below if you agree):

Diaz-blonde Diaz-brown

Sure, blonde looks summery and fun, but the brown hair color makes us take Cameron a bit more seriously.
Brown looks better because it draws attention to Cameron's lovely eyes.
Dark hair looks healthier and shinier, so that's another vote in favor of brown.
Certain hair color complements certain complexions better; in Cameron's case brown works best because it doesn't make her complexion look so pinky/red.

All in all, we prefer brown hair on Cameron Diaz. What do you think?

Celebrity Colour Analysis - Victoria Beckham

The impact of colour should never be underestimated. Some colours enhance your appearance, giving you an image of health, youth and vitality, while other colours detract, leaving you looking tired, old, ill!

Victoria is a wonderful Style Icon who keeps reinventing her look. One thing is certain she will never be is a wall flower and she can really rock these Cool , Clear and Dark Colours (Deep Winter).

She will find that when her hair is blonder the really dark and intense colours will not look as great on her and she would tone down these colours a little

Her Chocolate brown eyes and hair are really brought out by any of the Greens and Purples!

Some Winter Personality Traits you might recognise as being really Victoria....

Winter Personality

Winters have an in-command and confident presence that quickly wins the respect and trust of others. They are born leaders and have little trouble volunteering or assuming positions of leadership. They are internally motivated visionaries, who are able to quickly see the broader picture and once they set their sights on an objective they are not easily diverted. Winters are intellectuals and love nothing better than to tackle a complex dilemma, break it down systematically and come up with an effective solution. Winters value independence and competency and are often efficient and precise in whatever they attempt. They are organisers and planners and do not appreciate surprises or being forced into spur of the moment activities, preferring sufficient notice to organise and plan everything. Winters love to learn and gladly embrace the latest advances in technology. However they can become irritated when others do not share their passion for technology and continual improvement. Winters take themselves seriously and give the appearance that they can handle anything. Inwardly they are not always as comfortable or as “in control” as they would like others to believe. Winters are worriers and martyrs, making sacrifices for their children, family and other people that are not necessarily asked for. Winters are very loyal but tend to neglect friends by forgetting to call or write.

Color - Do You Know the difference between Cool and Warm Fashion Colors?

When you have a look at your wardrobe you will find that some outfits you just love because of the colours and others you never wear for that same reason. Many times I have heard clients say, the style of the garment is great, it fits but I never wear it and I don’t know why... Intuitively you will pick colours that suit you mostly when you are in a great mood whilst you are shopping and there is no pressure to buy. You most likely will pick up an garment that appeals to you because of the colour and when you hold it against your face and skin you will see yourself looking healthy.

No need for you to become an expert at this but a basic understanding will certainly help you make create purchasing decisions and will help you be more prepared in making an informed decision when you buy a new outfit.

Warm & Cool Colours

Warm and Cool are relative terms that loosely describe colours by reference to their apparent temperature. A colour is described as being Warm when sufficient yellow or red has been added to change its temperature to warm. The colours red, yellow and orange project a feeling of warmth and are associated with fire, sunlight and energy. In contrast, a colour that is comprised mainly of blue is said to be a Cool colour. Cool Colours have a blue, grey or violet base tone and are associated with coolness, serenity and assurance.

It is often easier to determine if a colour is warm rather if a colour is cool, so look for the presence or absence of yellow rather than the presence or absence of blue.

Here are some examples of Cool and Warm colours:

Princess Caroline of Monaco is suited to the Cooler blues while Sarah Ferguson is more suited to the Warmer tones
