There are many styles that will suit every face shape and fashion changes constantly.
The following information contains the most important aspects of a good style for your face
shape.
A square face is one that looks almost as long as it is wide and has a broad shallow jawline.
It is also a face shape that becomes round with weight gain.
Your Goal is to look for hair styles that visually lengthen your face and soften your jaw line (if desired).
Characteristics of a Good Style:
- Add volume to the hair in the area of the eyes and the top of the crown away from the jaw line.
- Create the illusion of height to offset the squareness with unbalanced lines. Curve and angle hair across the forehead.
- Natural looking soft styles are essential to soften your face shape.
- Styles with broken or asymmetric lines.
- Hair longer than the ears should be kept close to the face.
- Styles longer than the chin should have curves to soften the jaw line.
- Avoid showing too much or too little forehead.
- An off centre part with a swept to the side fringe.
- Hair close at the ears to emphasise cheekbones.
- Hair a bit longer in the back to lengthen the face.
Avoid:
- Too much fullness at the ears.
- Straight fringes, especially those that are heavy.
- Centre parts (makes jaw look squarer).
