Joanne's Head to Toe Make Over Journey - Final Part
Joanne has completed her Makeover Journey and looks absolutely gorgeous. From her comments below you can see that she really enjoyed it!!

This is what Joanne said about after her 6 week Makeover Journey:
Wow! What an amazing adventure! I was excited when I found out I won the competition, but also a little apprehensive about what I was about to go through. I could never have expected it to be so much fun! Angela made me feel comfortable and listened to my needs. All the girls did, actually. Angela never pressured me into buying anything- but I loved all the clothes she selected for me and couldn’t resist! I learnt that it wasn’t about buying more, it was buying smarter and knowing the gaps in my wardrobe. Now that I have been shopping on my own, I am actually enjoying it and it’s so much easier by applying the rules for my body shape and colour chart.
The photo shoot was a blast! I was worried about being in front of the camera, but Linda was so great and made me feel comfortable, which shows in the photos. I actually felt like a model, and looked pretty close to it thanks to Angela for the styling, Penny for the great Keratine Hair Straightening and the hair cut, Ere Perez for her Goodie Bag and Rozlyne for the make-up lesson, oh… and for being a perfectionist and ensure everything was in place for the photos.
I can’t thank Angela, Penny, Ere, Rozlyne and Linda enough for all they have done for me. Each of you were so much fun and so good at what you do! I guess the only way to show my appreciation is to look and feel good each day. I am much more confident now, and am always getting comments from family, friends and even strangers. I love the new me!!

When Rozlyne told me I would me making up half of my face like a professional (she showed me on the other side), I didn’t believe her. She was a great teacher. I especially loved learning about contouring and highlighting- 2 things I never knew about applying make-up, and yet make such a difference! Joanne's Head to Toe Make Over Journey - Part 5 Make Up Lesson with Make Up Artist Rozlyne Vidal
Yesterday Joanne had her Make Up lesson with Rozlyne Vidal. A lesson is a little more involved than just a makeover. Rozlyne, Make Up Artist, did Joanne's right hand side of her face and Joanne did the left hand side to practice the techniques of blushing, highlighting, contouring, blushing, eyes and lips. A lesson usually takes 2 hours and you bring your make up bag with you so Rozlyne can use what you have and pick out the gaps so you don't end up with a Make up graveyard of products you don't use.

As
a special treat, I have asked Rozlyne to share some of her secrets with
us. I highly recommend a one-on-one Make Up lesson, which I did last
year, and I feel so much confident in applying make up, experimenting
with colours, using the right tools etc. All thanks to Rozlyne's
enthousiasm!
Rozlyne's Tips
1. Always use a
Primer before you apply your foundation. It will make the foundation
last and look more even (Armani primer and MAC Primer are great and
Clarins also has a great product to prepare the base of your make up
called “Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch”).
2. The best way to
test your foundation colour is to apply it to your jawline if you can't
see the colour, it is the right one for you. If the colour stands out
for being too light or dark it is not the correct shade, keep looking!
The inside of the wrist is not necessarily a great match to the skin
tone of your face. Always apply your make-up in a well lit room with
natural light.
3. Use light shimmery colours when you want to
make an area bigger or where light hits your face; like the top of your
cheekbones (this is called highlighting), the centre of the nose, the
cupid's bow of your lips, the centre of your chin and inner corner of
your eyes (MAC has a great Pigment that works well called vanilla).
4.
Use Dark and matte shades when you want to draw less attention to an
area (this is called contouring); like the bottom of the cheekbones,
the bridge of the nose and also the sides of the nose, the temples of
your forehead up to the hair line, your neck muscles on either side and
for extra cleavage a v-shape in the décolletage (The secret is to use
to an angle brush MAC do a great one it is number no 169).
5. Only apply blush to the "apples" of your face that appear when you have a big smile.
6.
When it comes to applying eye colours the secret is use a combination
of lighter (near inner corner and underneath eye brow) to darker
colours towards the edge of the eye. Then Blend, Blend, Blend with a
blending brush (MAC no 239) or your fingers to make the edges smooth
and the overall look is amazing.
7. Apply a cream or white
pencil to the inner part of the lower lid to make your eyes appear
larger (newsreaders have been using this trick for years!)
8.
To prevent lips from bleeding, apply a lip pencil in a colour matching
to your lip colour and fill in the whole lip to make your lipstick
last. Apply a little gloss for some extra glamour.
9. Give
your brushes a regular wash with hot water, shampoo and conditioner to
clean out all the excess oils. Dry them off with a towel and let them
air-dry really well before the next use. You will be amazed how nice
and soft they turn out.
10. Remember to allow enough time to apply your make-up and practice makes perfect!

Joanne's Head to Toe Make Over Journey - Part 2 Wardrobe Organisation and Personal Shopping Experience at Westfield Chatswood
Last Thursday I met Joanne, our winner of the Head to Toe Competition, at her lovely home in Roseville to go through her Wardrobe with her Style Portfolio and Colour Swatch and to find where she had made great decisions and where not so great. We came up with with a Gap list of what was missing that included Cardigans, a Top to match a skirt, black pants, shorts, a Maxi Dress, Singlets, belts, accessories and black flats.
Joanne was already very organised in dividing her wardrobe in casual/work/tops and bottoms. Also her winter things were away from her summer wardrobe to create more space.
Mid morning we headed to Westfield Chatswood to look for the items on the Gap list, her Shopping Guide with her best styles and her Soft Summer Colour Swatch in her handbag.
We started at Myer and covered brands like Esprit, Basque, Cue, Country Road, Review, Sportscraft, Wish, Wayne Cooper.
Shorts we picked up from Country Road were a hit but pants in Cue did not fit, due to Joanne's Triangle body shape she is in between sizes what often happens in with this shape.
Outside Myer we popped into Aldo and found a great pair of pointy flats with a kitten heel that will look great under work pants, dresses, skirts and jeans.
At Glassons we found a great Maxi dress in great pattern as well as great style cardigans that will mix and match. We also found a black belt that had an interesting lock and fitted Joanne perfectly in her waist.
At Forever New we found some great basic singlets and a great cream patent belt that will look great with Joanne's winter dress (another Gap filled)
At Equip we found some great necklaces in a soft pink and green tones.
On the way to Target we popped into a Surf shop as I spotted a great Maxi dress and again this was a hit when she tried it on. Joanne was set for a Stylish Summer look!
In Target we found a great pair of pants that fitted like a glove, some more singlets in great colours as well as a nice necklace.
All in all a successful and fun shopping trip that took 3 hours!

Joanne's Head to Toe Make Over Journey - Part 1 Style and Colour Portfolio
You may remember Joanne Pate being the Winner of our Head to Toe Competition!
We have started her Make Over Journey last week and I wanted to make you apart of this exciting process.
Joanne came to the Style Angel Studio for her Style and Colour Portfolio and after a brief chat I took 17 Body Shape measurements and produced her Style Portfolio with the help of my amazing body shape software.
Joanne is a Triangle Body shape (just think of J.Lo, Halle Berry and Kate Winslet) and her Face Shape is Oblong (like Sarah Jessica Parker)
Together we worked through her best styles and styles to avoid and highlighted her shopping guide with different colours (see pictures below) to make her next shopping trip much easier for Joanne. Joanne will have this Style Portfolio for the rest of her life and really minimise purchases that she regrets later.
The second part of the first session was a Colour Analysis. Joanne has beautiful chocolate hair and eyes and a lovely olive skin. Her skin is muted and she is best suited to Cool, Muted and Soft Tones (Soft Summer) like attached below.

Tanya's 2 Hour Makeover - Before and After Shots
Tanya from Turramurra in NSW won a 2 Hour Personal Shopping Experience as part of the Head to Toe Makeover competition.

Tanya and I met at Chatswood Chase in September and we spent all of our time together in the department store David Jones. I often have people ask me where I take my Clients and David Jones and Myer are both fantastic as they stock great brands and we can find all the pieces in one go including shoes and accessories.
Tanya has a fantastic figure and I measured her shape as a Rectangle Body Shape (like the likes of Nicole Kidman and Gwyneth Paltrow) and she has an Oblong Face shapes (like Sarah Jessica Parker). Great necklines are important for Tanya to make her look taller.
Tanya's best colours are Soft and Cool colours, as you can see below she looks stunning in Purple and lilac (a real in-colour at the moment). She also bought a GREAT pair of Jeans by Mavi (Amelie is the name of type) and a stunning Saba dress. Her chocolate hair and eyes are also look great with Greens in her colour swatch.

"Thanks a million for the two hour styling session. Such a great prize! I’ve been telling all my friends about it. Someone told me years ago that I should wear “autumn” colours, and I took that to mean that I should buy oranges, browns etc (like Autumn leaves!). Anyhow, you set me straight on that, and I now know that my skin tone suits a really wide range of colours (including purple, blue etc). I also learnt what to look for to suit my rectangular body shape, which was so useful. I came away from the session armed with information, and feeling confident about buying clothes and accessories."
